We have a great message from God, and we want to connect with as many people as possible. We want them (you) to understand and have the opportunity to accept what we see in God’s Word, the Bible.

Someone may be looking for counseling, or a place to have assistance in raising a family. Some may want a place where they can worship and serve God, and to grow in their walk with Him. Many want to know the Bible, and how to live it, better.

How do you find us? Here are the basics:

We meet at 831 Mayfield Ave., Norfolk, VA. We have an email address – chccoffice833@gmail.com. We have a phone – 757-587-0401. Our minister has a cell phone – 757-344-0496. We have Elders who can also speak with and help those who need a shepherd’s touch. Contact us and we will have one of them return the call (their names are listed with contact info on our web-site also). Our web-site is www.colonialheightscoc.org (btw).

Facebook and Facebook Live – We put our worship service on Facebook each Sunday at about 10:30. It can also be viewed later as it stays there as a video. Our prayer is that those who join us in this way are able to participate, to worship, not just to watch. Additionally, we put up daily devotions by the Elders and minister for your edification. There are also prayer ops and memes that are uplifting. Sometimes we announce activities and special events. Our Facebook page is under our church name, of course.

RadioMondays, 4:00 p.m., WPMH 100.1 fm (also, 96.9 fm, and 1010 am). You can add an app on your phone or device – “tunein” so you can listen to this station. There’s music, teaching, preaching, prayer, and introduction to our other ministries (listed here). Feel free to tell others about this. One of our features on this program is called “Ask the Preacher.” It is a way to possibly get some of your questions answered about God, the Bible, and life.

Food PantryThe 3rd Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. we have people come to the church to receive much needed food. At present we are using a drive-through system (to minimize contact during this coronavirus time). We’ve been serving about 50 families each time. What a great privilege to help people during these trying times!

Clothes Closet – Currently the Clothes Closet is available when there are special needs that we become aware of. It will go back to the 3rd Saturday schedule soon.

OVCA/CHCC Preschool – More outreach and service to our community. We have classes for 3 and 4 year olds at the present time. We have partnered with the OV church in this ministry as they have had a successful preschool for many years. Call us for more information on this and any other of these opportunities.

Hispanic Ministry – Spanish language church – Partnering with a group of churches out of NoVA, they meet Thursday and Saturday evenings for Bible Study and worship. They are led by Spanish speaking preachers and teachers. Please pass this information on to anyone in the Norfolk area who has Spanish as their first language.

YouVersion Bible app – Sermon notes are put up on the Bible app each week. Go to the menu (3 lines in the bottom right corner) and go to “Events.” You may need to put in our Zip Code (23518) if you are out of our area. Contact me if you can’t find them. You can even take notes along with the sermon outline (on your device) to keep for later.

YouTube – We put all of our videos (sermons, devotions, radio messages) on YouTube. You can subscribe to our channel and receive email links whenever something new is added. You don’t have to have (or go through) Facebook this way.
The key word for our YouTube channel is “lamp post.” Link at top of webpage.

Rock Painting – A casual, enjoyable, artistic (or not, in some of our cases!) way to invite people and meet people. We’ll get back to scheduling these when the current crisis is under control.

Harvest Fest/Youth activities – On hold for now, we’ll see what fall looks like!

Mustard Seeds – Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. at Ed and Terry’s house (858 Marvin Ave., 3 doors from the church). The group meets for prayer.

Btw, one of the benefits of YouTube and Facebook is that you can “share” the sermons and devotions we post with other people. Especially YouTube as there is a “link” on each video. You can copy the link and paste it in an email. The other person can click and watch as much of it as they chose. Another HUGE advantage to YouTube is that you can click the “CC” button at the bottom of the video and have the closed caption feature.
