Dear Friends —

Greetings in the name of Jesus our Lord!

This article is completely about events that are coming up. I want you to be able to join in where you are able so God can bless your life, and you can bless others. Sounds like a plan!

I’m going to Albania this fall! Yes, it’s a mission trip. Arian & Stefanie Kosta (he preached here at CHCC last fall) have invited me to come to do some preaching and teaching, praying for God’s direction, planning for the future. October 12-20 I’ll go and get to see what God is doing through them. I’m asking for prayer for the success of this venture! Thanks! Pray also for Ed Wyant. He’s preaching here the Sunday (10/18) I’m gone.

Btw, I’m bringing items for the Albanian ministry with me. If you’d like to help with this there is a list (and a box) in the foyer at church. I’ll bring 3 suitcases if I have to (get to!).

October 3rd we are working with St. John’s Lutheran Church (on Tidewater Dr.) on their Fall Festival. It will be from 9:00 – 3:00 in their facility. We are setting up a table to distribute info about our church (including some instructive materials) and helping with some of the games for kids. Please let me know if you are able to join us for this!

October 17 is a breakfast (usually a men’s breakfast, this is for all interested parties) at 8:00 in the Fellowship Hall. After breakfast is a presentation by Financial Planning Ministries (so, starting at 9:00 or so). Anyone who wants information about wills, living trusts, medical directives, etc., should come out. This meeting is free and the services they provide are free. And breakfast! You can’t lose!

October 31 is our Harvest Fest. 5:30-8:00 p.m. here at the church. Kids up to 5th grade will enjoy free candy and hot dogs, games and activities. Tasteful costumes are welcome!

November 7 is our Movie Night (except it is at 1:00 so it’s really a matinee) here at the church. We are showing “The First of May”. This is a family movie, so bring the family, and the neighbors, and . . . It’s free of charge and popcorn, cookies and drinks will be provided.

November 29 — 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. we are participating in the Ocean View Christmas tree lighting festivities. Our Praise Team is leading Christmas songs, someone (possibly me) will read Luke 2. It’ll be a fun Sunday afternoon as we’re bringing a Christmas message at Christmas!

Most importantly we are doing Thanksgiving baskets for our guests who come to the Food Pantry. We’re asking anyone who would like to give $25.00 to provide for a family for Thanksgiving. This can be given by November 21st (in the Food Pantry jar in the foyer is fine). We want to give a blessing at this time of the year!!!

Blessings to one and all! Lots of great opportunities to put on your calendar!

Matt

Some additional information:

More events to put on your calendar!

December 5th, 6:00 p.m. is our 2nd annual Christmas Jam. It’s a Singspiration and an inspiration to help with the Christmas season.

December 12 — 2:00 is a puppet show! Professional puppeteers (Rainbow Productions) are putting on an event for the kids (of all ages!). Invite, invite, invite!

December 19 — 9:00 a.m. is a church clean-up day. Come for an hour or two! We want the building to be spick and span (that means really clean for those of you too young to remember that phrase!) for Christmas!

December 24 — Christmas Eve Service! Christmas is on a Friday this year. Come the night before, 6:00 p.m. It’s always a blessing to be reminded about Jesus’ coming, and celebrate with brothers and sisters here at Colonial Heights!
